......the rebound.....

Being single has been a part of my life since I moved back to the DC region.  Since then, I have met some wonderful men, some fuckboys, and some that are simply part of the male species.  It seems that every time I meet a guy, the guy falls into one of these categories:

  • He is on the rebound from another breaking his heart
  • Searching the wilderness for a Bey reject that can't boil water
  • The serial dater that don't want to settle down
  • The stringer....the guy that strings you along knowing full damn well he got a girl.
  • The guy that wants all the damn perks but none of the responsibilities of being in a relationship.
  • The honest manwhore....those that will dick you down and MAYBE take you to IHOP or Waffle House afterwards.
For the guys that don't fall into those traps above, and have had the limited chance to get to know me, I always fall into the trap of "I like you, but....".  Case in point, A guy on my Facebook page gave his honest opinion of me.  This is what he said (slightly changed for grammatical content):

Now this one is gonna be my favorite....
Storm you are an amazing woman...you have a great sense of humor...very down to earth....and would think any man would knock down your door to get at you...
Your problem is the men that you like...aren't for you...and the ones that like you....LLS

YOU'RE NOT FEELING!!!

You're not in a rush to be bunned up which is a great thing for you ....but be ready to meet what you want and don't in the middle because if you can....someone you would have never thought of is about to rock your world.

This is the entire single life summed up in one swoop.  I am this nice, wonderful, down to earth chick that is apparently likeable.  But......I am quite picky, which is where the second comment comes from.

I have been looking under seat cushions, reading the Missed Connections in the City Paper, search a couple of college campuses, and trying to be more social instead of sitting behind a computer screen 8-12 hours a day.  As the commenter states, I'm in no hurry.  So I will sit in the window of the local Starbucks, or on a bench in the park watching love pass me by.
